Fluent and experienced Arabic teacher to teach classes in grades 9-12. License preferred. Understands and is able to implement the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines
Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and for him/herself and communicates those to students and their families.
Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting as well as Multicultural/Gender/Ability Fair. Selects, adapts and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills.
Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving.
Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources to support learning. Assesses students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provides developmentally appropriate instruction to meet those needs.
A tuition-free public charter school serving approximately 90 students in grades 9 and 12 Rochester STEM Academy was 1 of only 2 charter school applications in the entire state to be approved in 2010 and chosen to receive a federal planning grant. Its founding board was brought together in response to the pent-up demand for an academically rigorous charter high school that could give a viable boost to Rochester’s industries and children in terms of both academics and future employment.
