Job Description

High School for Recording Arts is looking for a full-time High School Mathematics Lead Teacher for the 2018/19 school year. The overall purpose of the Lead Math Teacher is to collaborate with the math team (teachers and math specialist) to implement creative standards based math curriculum & teaching in support of the unique education program at HSRA.

We strive to make math relevant and interesting by focusing on real world and social justice topics through project based learning. Additionally, we work hard to open the doors of math to our students by building their confidence and math fluency. We are a collaborative staff, working together with other teachers, Special Education Department, advisors and recording studio. In addition to creating standards based curriculum, teachers at HSRA create elective courses, guided learning opportunities and assist in project based learning in their content area.

Qualifications

-Current MN Teaching License (7-12 Mathematics)
-Strong math skills in Algebra I, II, Geometry and Probability & Statistics.
-Prior successful experience in urban, multicultural education desirable.
-Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and collaborative skills with adults, students, and families, including the ability and willingness to build strong, positive relationships with them.
-Experience with Restorative Justice and Trauma Informed classrooms
-Persistence. Belief that all youth have the ability to learn.
-Advocacy skill, including good communication skills and the ability to negotiate, compromise, and confront conflict.
-Organizational skill, flexibility and ability to work in a variety of settings. Ability to work independently.
