Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE : An Educational Assistant is engaged in direct instruction with one or more students for instructional activities, physical or behavior management, or other purposes under the direction of a special education teacher or related services provider.

Under the supervision of teachers or other licensed, certified professionals:
Identify learner needs.
Develop and implement programs to meet learner needs.
Assist the teacher with the delivery of instruction.
Assess learner performance.
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and related services.
Communicate with the teacher on a daily basis about successes of and concerns about the learner.
In the areas of student contact and communication:
Provide one-on-one tutoring for eligible students.
Re-teach content covered in class.
Assist with classroom management (such as organizing instructional and other materials).
Provide assistance with computer use.
Support management of student behavior and social interaction skills.
100% of time spent with Special Education students

Excellent word processing skills and good computer knowledge (or ability to learn computer skills to function effectively in the GRS setting)
Academic Instructional skills in math, reading, and writing

BA in Education, Child Development or other related field
