We have an opening for a full or part time Special Education Teacher. Experience a plus as is experience in an urban school setting. We serve children in grades 6 through 12.
The purpose of this position is to provide a clear, consistent structure for the classroom that ensures that the academic, social, and emotional needs of each student are met within the guidelines of the Individual Educational Program (IEP) course work and the treatment plan.
Provide an individualized academic program to each student in classroom
Perform all duties related to the development of the IEP, i.e. assessment, goal setting, implementation, and assessment
Work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Work with and supervise the paraprofessionals to maintain a structured therapeutic learning environment
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and support staff
Current Minnesota Education Specialist Credential
Experience working with both “push in” and “pull out” SPED programing.
Ability to facilitate the group process, supervise people and work effectively with a teacher leadership team
A positive, adaptable, flexible, and high-energy person that can guide our students’ transition to a less restrictive environment
Ability to physically respond to physically active and aggressive children, adolescents, and young adults
Effective organizational and due process skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
An ideal candidate has both SLD and EBD license and three or more years experience in teaching Special Education. We seek a candidate that has positive work experience with students and families from different cultures; and able to work with diversity and dual language students.
