2008 MACS Teacher Relicensure Committee Election

Eligibility information:

To Be Elected:
Three (3) teacher representatives from member schools.

One (1) administrator representative from a member school.

Term of Office:

All terms are for two years of service (August 1, 2008 - July 31, 2010), except for one of the teacher representative positions.

One teacher representative position will be for a one year term to fill a recent vacancy on the committee (August 1, 2008 – July 31, 2009).

Persons Eligible:

Interested individuals for the teacher representative positions must be licensed by the MN Board of Teachers, hold at least a baccalaureate degree, and teach in a MACS member school. No more than one licensed individual may serve from an individual school.

Interested individuals for the administrator representative position must be licensed by the MN Board of Administrators, hold at least a baccalaureate degree, and be employed in a MACS member school. Again, remember that no more than one licensed individual may serve from an individual school.

Self Nomination:
Eligible individuals must submit a self-nomination form.

The current timetable for the 2008 Teacher Relicensure Committee Election will occur as follows:

Nomination Period:
Nominations will be accepted beginning Monday, March 3rd, 2008 and close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18th, 2008. Nominations may be submitted by email, fax, or U.S. mail.

Election method:
Electronic balloting. The MACS Relicensure Representative of each operating member school will be sent electronic & print copies of ballot materials on Monday, May 12th, along with candidate bios and nominations statements.

Please note that these materials will be separated into two ballots to avoid confusion – the teacher position ballots will be distributed to ALL licensed teachers at the charter school for voting; the administrator position ballots, however, will only be distributed to licensed administrators at the charter school for voting. So, every individual with a valid teaching license may vote in the teacher representative portion of the election, but only individuals with administrator licenses may vote on the administrator position.

Election period:
Monday, May 12th, 2008 – Friday, May 23rd, 2008
(Balloting will close at 4:00 pm on May 23rd.)

Eligible Voters for the Teacher Representative portion: every individual with a valid teaching license employed in operating schools that are members of MACS as of April 30, 2008.

Eligible Voters for the Administrator Representative portion: every individual with a valid administrator’s license employed in operating schools that are members of MACS as of April 30, 2008.
