Basic Board Governance Workshops
The MN Association of Charter Schools (MACS) offers a series of Basic Board Governance Workshops on an ongoing basis across the state for the boards of directors of nonprofits that operate charter schools.
Course 1 - Welcome to the World of Charter School Governance
Course 2 - Making Governance Work: It takes Two.
Course 3 - Policy Development, Implementation and Evaluation: The What, Who and How.
Course 4 - The Board and the Financial Bottom Line: A legal and Moral Obligation That Can Not Be Delegated Away.
Course 5 - Ignorance of the Law is Neither Bliss, Nor a Defense.
Course 6 - Academic Achievement - What It's All About.
These six basic course are each 2.5 hours in length. The courses are designed to provide board members with a foundation on the key elements and challenges of charter school governance.
Tuition
Individuals from MACS Member Organizations
$30 per person
Individuals from non-MACS member organizations
$95.00 per person
Tuition for individuals from MACS member schools and associate member institutions is subsidized by school membership dues.
