The Evaluation of Charter School Impacts

A new study, "The Evaluation of Charter School Impacts," was released by the US Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences, National Center for Education Evaluation. The study is the first large-scale randomized trial of effectiveness of charter middle schools that hold lotteries for admission.
Among the findings: The study found that charter middle schools that held lotteries were more effective for lower income and lower achieving students and less effective for higher income and higher achieving students.
