Job Description

The teacher is responsible for providing an educational environment where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth. The teacher is responsible to organize and implement an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with the school mission and goals, and align with MN state standards.

Teacher will work in conjunction with special education teachers in order to ensure curricula is appropriate and modifications are complied with for special education students.

Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers and community.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents and other professionals on a regular basis.

Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
Demonstrates gains in student performance.

Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating and participating in special events.

Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
Self-Motivated, Hard Worker and Team Player are good assets of the ideal candidate.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
A valid MN teacher License required.
Knowledge of Ojibwe Culture and communities helpful and preferred

Institution Description

Oshki Ogimaag Charter School is a small school located on the shores of Lake Superior, we have the chance of a lifetime for a classroom teacher that would like to teach in a small elementary school that has multi grade classrooms.
We are a responsive classroom school that has a strong focus on Environmental Education and science in general. We use Foss kits, teach Ojibwe Language and Culture and have a weekly wilderness session. There is Instructional support from our highly qualified Instructional Leader. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of Ojibwe culture and communities. The small classroom size offers opportunity to provide small group and one to one help, it also offers the opportunity to know your students and families very well.
