POSITION TITLE: Special Educational Assistant/Paraprofessional

POSITION STATUS: Non-exempt

FUNCTIONAL SUPERVISOR: Special Education Coordinator

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

DUTY DAYS: 182

POSITION PURPOSE:
To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborate with case managers, classroom teams, and support services to ensure student needs are being met.
Assist in the planning and implementation of the students’ daily programs under the direction of the Supervisor, case manager, and classroom teacher.
Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment including-but-not-limited-to preparing needed materials and supplies for your assigned student or classroom.
Observe, record, and collect data on behavior and specific IEP goals.
Assist in student organizational needs.
Support student sensory regulation needs.
Participate in staff meetings, training programs and/or conferences designed to promote professional development.
Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and student families.
Maintain and use positive, professional written communication with all individuals.
Supervise activities on and off campus to ensure safety.
Assist students in areas of daily living; such as toileting and/or feeding.
Transporting students in school vehicle, often navigating unfamiliar routes.
Regular, prompt attendance.

OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead small groups in educational activities
Proctor exams
Support after-school clubs
Support community based outings
Other job-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks.
Valid driver's license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 year degree or a minimum of 60 college credits OR successful completion of the ParaPro exam.
Knowledge and experience working with students on the autism spectrum
One year previous experience in a middle school or high school setting

Institution Description

Lionsgate Academy is a public charter school open to students of all abilities in grades 7 through 12, and also offers a transition program for students ages 18-21. Lionsgate’s program is inclusively designed to address the unique learning needs of students living on the autism spectrum as well as students with other learning differences.



In the 2018-19 school year, Lionsgate Academy opened our Shoreview campus with grades 7-10. Grades 11-12 are being added to the Shoreview location in the 2019-20 school year. We are looking for passionate and driven educators, who believe in our mission and are excited to join our team!
