Career Pathways has an opening for a Part Time Cultural Liaison Paraprofessional for the 2019-20 school year.
The Cultural Liaison Paraprofessional works under close supervision of the Administrative and Instructional Teams to support student needs, especially related to the unique needs of our Somali American families.
Assist with administrative and instructional duties as required
Develop and maintain family partnerships
Maintain a safe and supportive school environment
Maintain student confidentiality
Serve as a resource in Special Education meetings as required
Support the marketing and recruitment needs of the school
Support school code of conduct / behavioral expectations through behavioral redirection, including repair, restoration, and other behavioral management and problem solving strategies
Bi-Lingual in Somali and English
Ability to develop good relationships with families, students, parents and staff
Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others
Ability to relate to stakeholders with warmth, friendliness, and understanding
Ability to work with special educational and at-risk students
Demonstrated ability to work with families from different class and cultural backgrounds
Meet the Highly Qualified certification requirements (ie. passing score on the ParaPro Exam or 2 year degree/2 year of postsecondary education)
Successful experience with community resource organizations
Must be on time to your job everyday
Successful experience as a translator (Somali / English)
Successful experience in client services
Leadership experience with youth organizations
This is an hourly position. Some flexibility in hours will be considered depending upon the needs of the students. Students are in the building 8:30am to 3:00pm.
