Job Description

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:
● Monitors school facilities (e.g. grounds, buildings, parking lot, cameras etc).
● Responds to emergency situations, safety and security concerns.
● When absolutely necessary properly restrain students for the purpose of
ensuring their own safety and the safety of others.
● Searches students, bags, vehicles, lockers etc.
● Coordinates emergency response programs between the school and general
community.
● Coordinates, schedules and maintains records fire evacuation, tornado
evacuation, and maintains other evacuation records as required by state
regulatory agencies.
● Organize and execute safety and emergency preparedness program for all
persons and facilities.
● Responsible for working collaboratively with all school facilitators, specifically the
Student Support Staff.
● Creates school wide safety and security initiatives.
● Proactively plans for and communicates safety steps for special events.
● Coordinates scheduling, coverage, assignments and supervision of hired law
enforcement/resource officers and other security staff.
● Perform whatever task that needs to be done.

Job Requirements:
● Must be able to work independently and with others.
● Must be able to create action plans and exercise independent problem solving
skills.
● Must be able to meet deadlines and schedules, provide direction and leadership,
work with detailed information and frequent interruptions.
● Must have excellent communication, listening and organizational skills
● Willing to respond appropriately and promptly to concerns related to security.
● Must be dependable, dedicated to school mission and vision and success.
● Assist law enforcement officers as directed by the school administration.
● Must be willing to work with diverse student populations and staff and promote an
environment of respect, cultural inclusion and equity of all students and staff andmaintain a professional demeanor.
● Ability to handle and maintain confidential information regarding students, staff,
families, etc..
● Knowledge of district and school policies and procedures.
● Ability to effectively communicate with students and employees
● Ability to collaborate effectively with other employees.
● Must be able to exercise patience at all times.
● Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations.
● Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
● Ability to carry up to 25 pounds.
● Ability to move and respond quickly
● Ability to sit and stand and walk for long periods of time.
● Must be willing and able to work in dusty, wet, cold, hot, indoor, and outdoor conditions

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
● High School Diploma or GED
● Experience working with security and/or school settings
● Valid state drivers license
● CPR, First Aid and CPI
