Job Description

Primary Objective: The Biology Guide is responsible for teaching courses in the biological sciences arena. Focuses on teaching the study of living things, including cells and their structures and functions, anatomy, and biology in the environment, including biological processes such as photosynthesis.

The Biological Sciences guide is responsible for teaching two courses:
9th Year Biology: approximately 60 students
Anatomy & Physiology interdisciplinary class (at the IB level to 11th-12th year students)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct students on the study of organisms, ecosystems and relationships.
Create lesson plans, integrating competencies, goals and objectives.
Communicate effectively with students and staff at different technology skill levels to support instruction and advance educational goals.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians
Keep records of grades, assess papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Read and stay abreast of current topics in biology.
Utilize various curriculum resources that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
Work with program directors to ensure initiatives are being met.
Tutor students on an individual basis during independent work time.

Guiding a camping trip with students in the fall, and designing and teaching a one week intensive course in the spring.
Providing an advising role for a group of students throughout the year


MN Teaching License in Biological Sciences

Preferred Qualifications:
Credential in Montessori (AMI or AMS or NAMTA), or open to training.
Experience teaching in hands-on settings, interest and willingness to engage in trips and expeditionary learning with students
Desire to be part of a team of professional educators who collaborate and create an environment that serves students holistically.
