Job Description

Achieve Language Academy believes that every single child can achieve its greatest potential. This is accomplished when students, teachers, staff, parents, administrators, and the community all work together on shared goals and educational aspirations. Students growth and development are impacted by the collective leadership of all stakeholders. The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to continue the strategic oversight of the operations and academic success of the school to continue this shared learning and growth. This also includes responsibilities that are not limited to the following:
⦁ Executive and Academic Leadership
⦁ Organizational Leadership
⦁ Financial Oversight
⦁ Compliance
⦁ HR Management
⦁ Community Relations

Under the leadership of the Board of Directors, the ED serves as the highest administrator at Achieve Language Academy. The ED is cumulatively responsible for all aspects of organizational health, including but not limited to: enacting the school’s vision/mission and strategic goals; overseeing academic programs including data trends and achievement; meeting the school’s fundraising goals including grant-writing and recruitment strategies; maintaining relationship with and being accountable to the school’s authorizer; guiding the school’s professional culture; and managing school finances. The ED is ultimately responsible for the execution of all programs and procedures in alignment with the school’s mission and vision, with very high-level input from a board range of constituents. The ED manage risk, maintain accountability, support a positive public image and cultivate support within the community.

The ED must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have integrity, and is accountable to his/her actions. A successful ED have experience in a high performing, fast paced environment with a diversity of cultures. Achieve Language Academy emphasizes Spanish and Hmong languages in our enrichment program, so candidates must align their values with those of the community we serve. Consequently, we are seeking for someone who has these lived experiences and/or have built power in these communities. We believe having these parallel and shared experiences can further enhance the candidate’s ability to build strong and lasting relationships with the community – students, families, staff, board members, and the community.

Qualifications

⦁ Master’s Degree in Education, Business, Management, Organizational Leadership or related field is required.
⦁ Preference given to someone who has a MN school administrator license, but not required
⦁ Preference given to someone who speaks, writes, and reads Hmong and/or Spanish. Candidates of color, women, LGBTQ, people with disability, and military men/women are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working with the Hmong or Latino community, immigrants, refugees, and families who speak English as a second language.
⦁ Experience working with low income, no income families and support with navigating resources in the Twin Cities.
⦁ 6-8 years of experience in a leadership role, particularly in education, non-profit, or public institutions with emphasis on strategic leadership, personnel management, and operational/budgeting experience.
⦁ Organizational leadership experience with a proven record of success in leading cross-functional teams to achieve ambitions results.
⦁ Strong strategic thinker and planning skills, with an ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities effectively.
⦁ Exceptional communication skills with an ability to motivate staff, parents, community leaders, and other school stakeholders.
⦁ Experience forming, cultivating, and expanding partnerships with key constituents in the public and private sectors, such as foundations, individual donors, educational institution, and government agencies.
⦁ Strong financial acumen including a background in budgeting, audit process, investment oversight, and financial planning.
⦁ Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws applying to public charter schools.
⦁ Utmost personal integrity that balances a strong commitment to transparency with necessary confidentiality in sensitive matters.
⦁ An unwavering dedication to establishing and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, parents and community members.

Institution Description

Achieve Language Academy is a free, public charter school located in St. Paul, MN. We are a community of learners in grades prekindergarten through 8th grade. Achieve is built on the following beliefs:
