Job Description

The position requires teaching 3-4 sections of English/Language Arts at the secondary level. Classroom size is limited to 20 students and the school has an environmental focus. We are seeking dynamic teaching aligned with courses focused on solving world problems. Team-teaching and project-based learning are incorporated into the schedule. Consideration given to traditional teaching and curriculum, but innovation is preferred for this position. The secondary program is 60 students and heavily based on relationships with students and relevance to solving global challenges. There are also opportunities to teach credit-recovery courses for additional compensation. A candidate who thrives on creating, is self-driven, is interested or willing to teach interdisciplinary courses, and wants to work with a small dedicated team is ideal. This position is a unique opportunity to deliver Language Arts instruction through the other core areas of Science, Social Studies, and Math. If you have a passion not traditionally associated with core subjects, this is your opportunity to bring it to the table! If you want to teach courses on Water Resources, Hunger/Poverty, Conflict, International Relations, Social Media/Technology, Migration, etc. This position is for you.


A Language Arts license is preferred, but out-of-area or Tier 1 license will be considered.

STEM or STEAM background is a potential fit.

Innovation preferred, but traditional English teaching and curriculum will be considered.

Passion for solving world problems is ideal.

Institution Description

Riverway Learning Community is a small school (PreK-12) with 130 students, a Montessori primary, mixed-aged group Secondary, has an environmental focus, and practices the fullest inclusion possible. We are a small team of highly dedicated staff with high levels of support in the classroom (almost every classroom has an assistant scheduled in it).
