Job Description

Global Academy is a free, chartered public elementary and middle school that seeks to serve a diverse group of students. Global Academy is committed to service in the broader world based on the goals of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Empowered by academic rigor, graduates of Global Academy will be fully prepared for success and leadership in challenging high school programs.

Global Academy is seeking a passionate, dedicated art teacher who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners. Global Academy is an award-winning charter school that leads the state in closing the achievement gap for diverse students. Global Academy’s mission is based on the principles of the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB) and is an authorized IB Primary Years Program site. Global Academy’s school culture is exemplary in providing a calm, safe environment in which students can learn.

About the Art Program!
Students at Global Academy receive at least one hour of art instruction per week.
The school has a beautiful, sunlit, resource-rich art classroom.
Art is an integral part of our IB programme.

Articulate the mission and vision of Global Academy to students, parents, and the greater community
Create a classroom environment in which every child can succeed and which establishes high academic and behavior standards
Demonstrate high proficiency and expertise in content areas
Create effective lesson plans and instructional materials
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
Teach all approved curricula
Implement and support the School Wide Positive Behavior System established by the school
Assess the progress of each student
Prepare and maintain appropriate records and progress reports
Communicate with parents during the school day and outside the normal classroom hours as required
Identify student needs and make appropriate referrals for student services
Help to promote and maintain a professional environment
Direct paraprofessionals and volunteers as necessary
Demonstrate the attributes of a lifelong learner
Participate successfully in the faculty professional development and evaluation system
Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the administration


Required Qualifications
Must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to teach art to students in Grades K-8 or be eligible to be licensed in art
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with educational technology
Ability to work with diverse student populations
Commitment to educational equity

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with ESL population
Knowledge of or experience with the International Baccalaureate Program
