Job Description

Job Title: Communication Coordinator
Level: Administrative
Classification: 1.0 FTE
Benefits Eligible: Yes
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Reports to: Director of Administration

General Description:
This position manages communications across the school community. The Communications Coordinator works directly with the Head of School and leadership team to draft, build, edit, and publish family & faculty communications, manage the website, and build marketing & communication materials.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Family & Faculty Communications:
-Manage, create, edit, and schedule regular communications for families and faculty
-Build templates, organize contributors, edit, and send regular newsletters.
-Manage internal and external Google calendars
-Work with faculty/students planning events - organize and execute publicity
-Organize and update staff/family/student email lists across platforms

Announcements Blog & Social Media:
-Gather, sort, and distribute announcements from community
-Create content and fill communications schedule
-Post daily announcements for three levels on Squarespace blog, manage RSS feed that sends daily email updates to families
-Manage official school social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

Website & Branding Management:
-Maintain school website; update and write content for main school website
-Build and manage new sub-sites and web-stores for school endeavors (summer camp, folk school, plays, musicals, graduation, professional development, etc).
-Manage internal faculty website (google site)
-Design, order, and sell spiritwear

Graphic Design & Visual Communication:
-Maintain branding consistency across all platforms and materials
-Create promotional materials for school (enrollment materials, website content, etc)
-Graphic design needs - create social media graphics, zines, newsletters, event programs, fundraising, infographics, data reports, etc
-Maintain photo and video library
-Other Duties as Assigned


-3+ years experience in communications.
-Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Google Docs, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Canva or other graphic creation program, and Hootsuite.

Preferred qualifications:
-Detail-oriented and able to thrive in high-pressure situations
-Excellent writing skills
-Conflict resolution
-Interest or knowledge in nontraditional education systems
-Advanced coursework in communication strategy
