Job Description

JOB GOALS:
The ADSIS Behavior Specialist is a key member of the staff to help support social and emotional needs of the general education students. The Behavior Specialist is responsible for responding to student behaviors and needs throughout the building and for specifically supporting students through a Restorative Justice approach.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Targeted Social and Emotional Support
• supports students through Restorative Justice groups and individual sessions for social emotional learning/ support
• supports students going through crisis/ self-harm/ or suicide ideation
• identifies students at risk for academic or emotional/ behavioral concerns; coordinate with general education teachers, administration, school counselor, and/ or special education staff

School-wide Behavior Support
• supports the administrative team with high need student situations
• de-escalates students in crisis in cooperation with the administrative team
• supervises students in crisis in cooperation with the administration team
• assists teachers and the administrative team with de-escalating students in crisis
• assists the administrative team with supervision and support of students in crisis
• provides supervision in the classroom/hallways/recess/lunch/etc. as needed or assigned
• supports the special education team with implementation and tracking of Behavior Intervention Plans
• Works to help all school-wide program needs
• Attend the Intervention Team Meetings

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

a. Education consistent with the requirements of the State of Minnesota for licensure as a K-12 Teacher: Masters or Specialist Licensure Preferred. Prior experience as a teacher, counselor, and/or social worker a plus. Must have effective communication skills. CPI training a plus.
