Job Description

We are looking for a person with a welcoming personality to be part of our 6th-12th grade school. Position is responsible for serving school breakfast and lunch and supporting students in classrooms and activities as an educational assistant. Occasional additional duties as needed and time available to support the school.

This is a school year position and includes both student contact days and some staff development days.
Final count of contract days is dependent on the hiring/start date.

Qualifications

- Experience: Job related experience is preferred.
- Education: At least two years post-secondary training or sufficient specific job experience.
- Certificates & Licenses: None required, onsite training provided
- Background check required for all education positions
- Hours: 8:40 am-4:40 pm on student contact days.

Primary Food Serving:
-Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.
- Serve food in the correct portions as specified by CKC in alignment with MDE/MDH.
- Cleans utensils, equipment, and areas used for storage, food preparation and service, for the purposes of maintaining required sanitary conditions and safety processes as regulated by the State of Minnesota and Ramsey County.
- Reports inconsistencies/issues in equipment or protocol to business manager/supervisor in order to support overall improvement of the UMA Food Service program.
- Inventories food, condiments and supplies for purposes of ensuring availability of items and ordering of supplies. Communicates inventory needs with the business manager through established procedures.
- Receives and properly stores food deliveries.
- Supports and promotes the meal programs offered at the site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The job of Food Server exists for the purpose of preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel, as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition. The specifics are supported by our Food Service Manager to ensure compliance with all regulations.

Educational Assistant:
- We are currently seeking a classroom paraprofessional who is passionate about being part of a collaborative team to ensure that students succeed at school. We want to add individuals to our team who are flexible, creative, and adaptable to multiple student learning styles, activities, content areas and environments.
- Desired - a minimum of one year previous experience with students in an education setting.
- Knowledge of or prior experience with learning and positive behavior management techniques
- Tutoring experience a plus
- Support and monitor students in various learning environments and locations
- Accompany students on field trips and community day outings
- Maintain student confidentiality
- Efficiently and effectively communicate student concerns/needs to appropriate staff member
- Work with classroom teachers to support student learning and educational experiences.
- Participate in team meetings
- Collect data

Working Environment:
Significant lifting of up to 50 lbs, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; significant reaching and handling. Generally the job requires 40% walking and 60% standing.
