Welcome to www.mncharterschools.org, the website for and operated by the MN Association of Charter Schools (MACS).  This privacy notice states MACS' policy relative to the information, including personal data and other information, collected from visitors to this website.

INFORMATION COLLECTED
When a visitor provides information to MACS using this website, MACS may collect personal data from you.  The data collected includes the following:

  • Personal Information.  MACS only collects personally identifiable information on a voluntary basis.  This information is provided to MACS by the visitor through the completion and submission of forms, inquiries, and other similar means.  "Personal Information" may include, but is not limited to: a visitor's name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. 

    By voluntarily providing MACS with Personal Information, the provision of such information indicates the visitor's consent to MACS' use of the Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.  

  • Non-Personal Information.  When you interact with MACS via this website, MACS receives and stores certain personally non-identifiable information ("Non-Personal Information").  Non-Personal Information, which is passively collected using various technologies, cannot be used to identify a specific user.  MACS may store such information itself or in databases owned and maintained by MACS' affiliates, agents, or service providers. 

    In connection with the operation of this website, MACS may employ the use of technology commonly known as "cookies."  A "cookie" is an element of data that a website can send to the Internet browser of a visitor to that website.  A "cookie" is not a computer program and has no ability to read data residing on the visitor's computer or instruct it to perform any step or function.  The "cookie" does not extract any Personal Information. 

USE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED
MACS uses Personal Information a visitor provides in a manner consistent with this Privacy Statement.  If a visitor provides Personal Information for a specific reason, MACS will use the Personal Information only for the purpose for which it was provided. 

MACS uses Non-Personal Information to track and analyze trends regarding data such as the total number of individuals that visit this website, the number of visitors to each page of this website, and the domain names of visitors' Internet service providers.  

MACS, its affiliates, and agents may use Personal Information and Non-Personal Information collected through the website to improve the content and functionality of the website.  MACS may disclose Personal Information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect or defend the rights or property of MACS, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of visitors to the website, or (iv) protect against legal liability.

DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION COLLECTED
MACS does not sell, license, transmit, or disclose Personal Information collected to third parties unaffiliated with MACS unless expressly authorized by the visitor or required by law. 

MACS makes Non-Personal Information in the form of organizational contact information available through our online and printed directories.  On occasion, MACS also makes mailing lists of charter schools available to third parties.  These lists are limited to executive director names, organization names and postal addresses, unless otherwise specifically noted for the purposes of member corporate partner program notifications.

EXCLUSIONS
This Privacy Statement does not apply to any Personal Information collected by MACS other than Personal Information collected through this website.  This Privacy Statement shall not apply to any unsolicited information provided to MACS through this website or any other means.  This includes, but is not limited to, any ideas for new information, resources, tools or services, and other unsolicited submissions.   All unsolicited information shall be deemed to be Non-Personal Information and MACS shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute such information to others without limitation or attribution. 

SECURITY
MACS takes reasonable precautions to protect visitors to its website and information provided by such visitors from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.  Notwithstanding these protective measures, e-mail sent to or from this website may not be secure.  Accordingly, visitors should consider the nature of the information sent to MACS via e-mail.

Financial Data. MACS does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay by credit card, they are redirected to submit encrypted payment transmissions directly through PayPal, MACS' secure credit card processor service.

Regarding all information received, MACS protects visitor and customer information offline by storing Personal Information in secure computer/server environments and by granting access to Personal Information only to employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or event registration).

Copyright of the text materials contained in the website is owned by the MN Association of Charter Schools. They may be used, downloaded, reproduced, publicly displayed, or reprinted for personal or non-commercial purposes provided the following attribution appears in all copies: "Reproduced with permission of The MN Association of Charter Schools, St. Paul, Minnesota."

Permission to reproduce materials for commercial use (e.g., book publishing) must be obtained in writing. Text materials included in this site may not be modified in any way. The site may also offer software, graphic images, data, and other non-text-based materials. All rights to these materials are reserved to MACS and/or the copyright owners who license such materials to MACS.

PHOTOGRAPHS
MACS takes photographs during public events and solicits photographs from our members, and occasionally selects quality photos for distribution via this website, social media, or other means. Photos are taken in public settings during public events. If you are included in a photograph and would prefer that it not be distributed, please contact MACS to identify the photo and where you saw it, so that MACS can remove it from further circulation.

MACS reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Statement at any time and from time to time without prior notice.  Continued use of this website shall indicate agreement with the terms of such revised Privacy Statement.
