Job Description

Responsibilities:
• Evaluate students for SPED Services
• Write and manage IEPs
• Monitor IEPs implementation
• Supervise SPED Paras
• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials to facilitate active learning
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Prepare classroom for class activities and implements goals, objectives and standards of the school
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instructions
• Evaluate student performance through examinations and homework assignments to promote student achievement. Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Assess student academic and behavioral needs by establishing and enforcing school rules and procedures.
• Clearly communicate assessment criteria to parents; and involve parents/guardians in meaningful ways to maximize student learning and achievement.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
• Prepare required reports on students and activities
• Performs classroom management duties, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

Professional Accountabilities
• Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.
• Participates in various school events, staff meetings and extracurricular activities.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
• Serve as a role model for promoting effective instruction and professionalism

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
B.A/B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field of teaching
Minnesota State Licensure in teaching in appropriate subject area
ABS licensed, ASD preferred
Ability and flexibility to interact effectively with students, parents, and other school staff, the administration, and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to collaborate with grade level teachers, paraprofessionals, and tutors regarding instructional classroom activities
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to plan and implement lesson plans base on school goals, as well as the objectives, and needs of students.
Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations
Ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology, as appropriate.
Knowledge of classroom management and organization
