Job Description

Our team is looking for licensed teachers that enjoy teaching “outside the box”. We are a small, hard working group that values teachers for their expertise as professionals and what they offer as unique individuals. Here, an active and engaged team commits to the long-term success of our unique educational program. We encourage and expect creativity and seek teacher leaders that are enthusiastic to break free of the typical conventions of education. At Central Lakes Adventure School we welcome professionals that will:

*Work as Advisors to develop and facilitate both teacher and student led projects within and across multiple discipline areas.
*Develop systems of productivity and efficiency for daily school operation to successful levels of efficacy.
*Align lessons, field studies, and projects to MN State Academic Learning Standards with fidelity to Central Lakes Adventure School’s Mission and Vision.
*Determine proficiency of student progress through learning targets within Projects and Field Studies in a competency based grading system.
*Review individual student learning targets and utilize various sourced assessment data to inform instruction and determine direction of design in robust teacher and student led Projects.
*Cultivate, promote, and support an encouraging environment of inquiry, self motivation, and skills development in student led learning.
*Propose, develop, and facilitate Projects and Field Studies; be enthusiastic and willing to immerse yourself in these experiences by accompanying student groups.
*Conduct projects and instruction with confidence in autonomy, yet balance collaboration of effort and end-goals with other teaching staff.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
*License Requirements: State of MN teaching licensure for grades 7-12.
*Education: BA/BS from accredited college or university.
*Experience: Diverse background with hobbies and talents to share with colleagues and students. Enjoy the outdoors, nature and outdoor projects.
*Degree of supervision: Indirect supervision, report to Executive Director.
*Physical demands: The position requires daily physical activities outdoors.
*First aid, CPR, wilderness safety, and lifeguard training may be required.
*Willingness and ability to serve on the School Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications:
*Charter School Experience
*Project-Based Learning and/or personalized learning experience.
*State of MN Commercial Driving Licenses/Passenger Endorsement
*MN State Teaching License 6-8/9-12: Science, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and/or Special Education (SLD, ABS) preferred.

Central Lakes Adventure School, established in 2001, is a charter school serving grades 7-12, located in Pillager, MN; the beautiful Central Lakes region of the state. Our school is an innovative and non-traditional setting focusing on stewardship in our natural environment and career readiness skills. Our approach is a successful blend of experiential and Project Based Learning with a high focus on building positive and inclusive relationships with our students, families, and the community.
