Job Description

Job Title: CAS Internship Program and Service Learning Consultant
Level: Upper Adolescent (grades 10-12)
Classification: .12 FTE (Around 5 hours per week)
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and education
Reports to: Adolescent Program Director and work in collaboration with the IB Coordinator
School Year: 2024-2025, starting July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025

Primary Objective:
This position will work closely in collaboration with IB Coordinator in coordination of internships, volunteer, paid work and other activities students are involved in as part of their 3-4 hour per week CAS (Creativity-Activity-Service) course. The ongoing monitoring responsibilities listed below will be a main focus during the months of October through May. Responsibilities in working with the IB Coordinator to plan and implement orientation for faculty, students, and caregivers happens in late August and early September.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

Ongoing monitoring of CAS internship program implementation
Caregiver CAS education and collection of permission slips for off-site experiences
Check in 1-1 via phone or email with each internship site on rotating basis once per semester
Email CAS site supervisors quarterly with update, reminder on school closures
Notify CAS sites when there is a snow day
Communicate, collaborate, and consult via phone/email with CAS sites when they are having challenges with interns or have questions
Consult with new students and or students needing CAS intervention support
Support new advisors on CAS processes, accountability, portfolios, and grading
Intervene with students needing CAS placement and/or portfolio support
Communicate with students and CAS advisors when action is needed
Lead communication with caregivers and students when CAS internship sites offer a one-day off-site event, such as field trip (example- field work for the science lab internships)


Collaborating with GRS CAS 7-10 & 11 & 12 Grade Coordinator and IB Coordinator to assure alignment of CAS Program and IB requirements are met
Organize and implement CAS Orientation for faculty during August in-service
Organize and implement CAS Orientation for students during first week of school
Organize and implement CAS Wednesday tracking system (i.e. CAS internship tracking spreadsheet)
Organize and implement CAS Accountability & Grading system
Organize and implement at least 1 major CAS Check per quarter
Ensure students and faculty members are educated on CAS Experience Proposals, Reflections, and evidence practices and expectations.

Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year of experience working with students individually and in small/large groups with a wide range of skills
Have excellent communication and outreach skills with the willingness/ability to make phone calls
Proficient with various word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software(Google Suite, etc.)
Have excellent organizational and problem solving skills
Have effective relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with adolescents
Experience communicating with caregivers and organizations
